BARCLAYS HUB - BANKING, MAKE IT YOURS
Innovate banking in the name of neurodivergence. This was a competition set by D&AD and partnered with Barclays. The brief was to develop a new digital experience, service or, tool (apps or in-app functions) that can help Barclays meet the banking needs of Neurodivergent individuals.

PROCESS & EXPERIENCE
The approach I took with this project was to focus on helping with time management and budgeting, these can be helped by reducing the anxiety of online banking and the distractions within the layout. The new layout design includes features you can customise, such as the colour, font size, and the option to add background music, to encourage them to interact with the app and lessen their anxiety.
The layout is designed to suit neurodivergent individuals, such as including easy-read images, visual timers, and only the key everyday banking elements on the pages.
The design was also adapted by using user-friendly colours (no bright or triggering colours like red and yellow), and no page is more than two clicks away from the homepage. Before the user switches to Barclays Hub they are given the option to do a deep breathing exercise to help relieve any stress, and this is then available at any point throughout their time using the app by using the time-out button. There is the option of voice control so they don't feel overwhelmed if they can't find the page they're looking for. The voice control, time-out button, and settings are easily accessible by being in the navigation bar. Barclays Hub would also have 'Hub Spots' within the Barclays bank buildings, and here they can have lessons in budgeting, and sessions to help set up their personalised online banking accounts.

THE OUTCOME
The outcome of the project was a success, however, there were areas in which I can improve. The app reached its goals of helping neurodivergent individuals with their time management and budgeting by having the unique features of breathing exercises at the start before, and the customisation of the app to make them feel less anxious. The clear layout will also help make budgeting simpler.
